For a designer...
Advanced design and technology projects
The purpose
Development of clocks inspired by designers from different relevant design eras. The aim was to meet a designer, empathise with the user and generate a design that could be given as a gift to the selected designer.

The process
Creating a watch for a person who has had a significant impact on the world of design without having them present for evaluation is a huge challenge that led us to achieve original results. We started by analyzing the various movements in industrial design that have modernized the world, from the industrial revolution to Mexican Kitsch designs. With this foundational information, they were able to identify a designer to propose a functional watch for. To do this, we created empathy maps and user personas for the selected individual. If necessary, moodboards were also generated to help students create a proposal closer to reality.

The design
Since the purpose was to create an object based on well-known designs, they had the opportunity to generate 30 different proposals, ending with 5 ideal proposals and one final proposal to develop a functional prototype. This type of exploration helped the students to unleash their creativity without being limited to what users had already invented. As final results, we had a spherical watch inspired by Art Deco and a watch/portfolio with LED lights inspired by Olivetti designs from post-war Italian design.

The impact
The analysis and knowledge of people, objects, and revolutionary movements in industrial design is a major focus point for students and future designers to draw inspiration from and create objects with greater impact and a higher level of analysis. During this project, the students were able to get close to the entire design process and gain experience in prototyping workshops, which high school students do not always have access to.
